"UPWARDS OF A MILLION POUNDS" OF ADDITIONAL REVENUE BROUGHT TO TOWN

Ludlow Castle and Ludlow Chamber of Trade & Commerce are celebrating the financial impact of the recent 'Live at Ludlow Castle’ concert series on both the castle and the town with the Chamber of Trade & Commerce claiming the third edition of the popular series brought “upwards of a million pounds” to the town’s hospitality, accommodation and retail sectors.
Over 40,000 people attended the series of evening concerts inside Ludlow Castle across the last two weekends of July and, having added a second weekend of concerts and the brand new ‘Ludlow Castle Comedy Festival’ to this year’s series, Ludlow Castle and promotions partners Futuresound Group hosted its largest event series yet.
During the series the town of Ludlow was buzzing with concert goers, while inside the castle the audience were treated to a magical display as the sun went down and concert lights danced on the walls of the inner bailey.
However, the magic didn’t stop as the bands took their bow with the events directly raising crucial funds via a restoration levy on tickets that went directly to the Castle for work on essential repairs. Undertaken by specialist team Fogarty High Level Maintenance, the restoration levy funds supported a number of projects, including retaining specialist steeplejacks who carried out vital work on the castle walls, dealing professionally with problematic vegetation and delicate masonry to help ensure the long term safety and prosperity of the landmark.
Live at Ludlow Castle raised funds for a number of local charities including Samaritans of Shrewsbury, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and Hands Together Ludlow who have been able to contribute funds towards vital new kitchen equipment thanks to the generosity of castle gig-goers.
Taking place inside the walls of the historic Shropshire landmark, this year the 6,000 capacity site brought artists to Ludlow including Texas, Olly Murs, Jess Glynne, The Script, Supergrass and Faithless alongside some of the biggest names in comedy including Katherine Ryan, Russell Howard, Tom Davis, Joel Dommett and many more. 2025 also saw the series partner with BBC Introducing in Shropshire to bring local artists onto one of the region’s largest stages with Cally Rhodes, DECO and Wallace appearing on bills across the series.
Founded by Ludlow man Colin Oliver, Leeds-based Futuresound have worked with Ludlow Castle on creating, establishing and realising the annual series of 6,000 capacity events since 2023 and the partnership is fully committed to establishing the iconic site as one of the UK’s premier outdoor venues for live music, comedy and more.

Ian Evans, Chair of Ludlow Chamber of Trade and Commerce said:
"The town of Ludlow owes Futuresound and Ludlow Castle a huge debt of gratitude. The events put on have not only brought in tens of thousands of people into Ludlow for the evening events but also brought upwards of a million pounds worth of additional revenue to our hospitality, accommodation, and retail outlets. That cannot be overlooked. So, on behalf of Ludlow, Thank you."
Gemma England, General Manager Ludlow Castle said:
“We are incredibly appreciative of the support from concert goers, who not only bring the castle to life during the events themselves, but the important restoration work that comes as a result.”
